Deavra A. Daughtry
Deavra Daughtry is an innovative and diverse businesswoman and community leader
from Houston, Texas. With over 1500 employees, Daughtry is the President and CEO of
Excellent Care Management (ECM), one of the nation’s largest personal in-home care
agencies. ECM has trained over 20,000 nurses and caregivers. After caring for the
grandmother who raised her, she was inspired to help seniors. After seeing the
tremendous need for elderly care, she founded ECM in 1996 with a few hundred dollars,
a single employee, and words of encouragement from her beloved grandmother.
Deavra has a passion and heart for community. She is the Founder of the Texas Women’s Empowerment Foundation (TWEF), a non-profit organization founded in 2003 geared to empower the Houston communities. In 2006, Daughtry purchased over 8 acres of land and donated $1 million to build and develop the Empowerment Community Center to continue her outreach efforts in her community. TWEF has focused on expanding business networking opportunities, financial education, mentorship, senior outreach, entrepreneurship, STEM education and the TWEF Urban Community Garden. Daughtry has also donated computers, furniture, and cars to college students and raised more than $400,000 in youth scholarships.
