The Texas Women's Empowerment Foundation (TWEF) is a non-profit organization geared towards mentoring families, from all walks of life; helping them to reach their fullest potential in the areas of personal development, business, education, finances, and socio-economic development.

The Texas Women's Empowerment Foundation (TWEF) was founded in May 2002 by Dr. Deavra A. Daughtry, a successful entrepreneur and philanthropist. Her vision was to create an organization that would be a resource to families by providing them with the tools needed to achieve and maintain a sense of empowerment, while being inspired to reach their personal and professional goals. As a young adult she started a healthcare and management business and currently employs over 500 individuals, serving 30 counties throughout Texas. Deavra decided to take action by leveraging her personal resources and invest in the formation of a Foundation that would focus on the entire family unit with a "heal the community" approach.
The first TWEF "Empowerment Conference" was held on September 27, 2003 and attended by over 800 guests. Keynote speaker for the event was Ms. Susan L. Taylor, the Editor of Essence Magazine and Ms. Taylor inspired families to move forward, recognize their strengths, and take control of their lives. Attendees were also encouraged and informed by other speakers, including Dr. Jamie Terry, physician and television commentator; Ms. Carla Cargle, financial advisor and author; and Ms. Joan Higginbotham, NASA Astronaut.
In 2004, TWEF hosted a Holiday Gala with performing artist, Brian McKnight. The gala was held to extend to five young women a scholarship to continue their education. These young girls were single mothers who, although they had a set-back, were still determined to move forward and TWEF was there to offer hope for them. In 2005 the conference theme was "Stepping Into Your Greatness 2005". The guest speaker was Les Brown, a successful entrepreneur, bestselling author, and philanthropist. As a world-renowned professional speaker, he motivated the crowd of 2,000 attendees with his high-energy message, which helped people shake off mediocrity and step into greatness. Other speakers included James Dixon, II, an anointed visionary and motivator, Dr. Charles Phillips, a global lecturer, gospel preacher and empowerment specialist, and Mr. John Garcia, successful entrepreneur and trainer. Utilizing powerful deliveries and newly emerging insights these customized presentations taught and inspired everyone in attendance to channel their lives to new levels of achievements. Mr. Brown was resoundingly requested to return in October 2006. Once again, his powerful message empowered a standing room only crowd to focus on a higher level of personal performance.
In May, 2007, the Foundation graced the city of Houston with an "Evening of Empowerment" with Ms. Cicely Tyson. Ms. Tyson shared profound wisdom to a crowd of over 1,500 attendees. The event inspired everyone as many local business and churches were a part of the evening and was overwhelmed by the flawless execution of the organization. That event, as many others offered scholarships to deserving young Houston students.
In 2008, TWEF's most outstanding successes was the honor it provided the City of Houston when it hosted and sponsored the "International Global Leadership Summit" featuring the gift and impartation from global leader and speaker, the world renowned Dr. Myles Munroe of Nassau, Bahamas. More than 1,800 people attended the summit events, including 500 attendees that attended the "Youth Empowerment Leadership Summit" as part of the summit and expressed that they felt enriched by the powerful life changing words that will catapult your life to higher levels in business, family, and leadership

Since its inception TWEF has touched over 40,000 people through workshops, seminars, back to school events, and other mentoring opportunities and we offer an array of successful programs focused on meeting the needs, both personally and professionally. TWEF has implemented a number of mentoring initiatives to help disadvantaged families through seminars and workshops that bring direction and stability to the household by offering resources, interventions and solutions through information dissemination, personal and economic empowerment and emotional support through mentoring. TWEF and Dr. Daughtry has been continuously recognized for their accomplishments and contributions.
